"Qawem" is the Arabic word for "resist." It is from the root "q-w-m" meaning "to stand up" or "to rise up."

Points of Unity

  • Zionism is a white supremacist colonial ideology. We reject it and all other forms of racism.
  • Palestinian resistance is an expression of the will of the Palestinian people. We recognize its legitimacy and the right of Palestinian people to decolonize and reclaim all of historic Palestine by any means necessary.
  • The Palestinian resistance is the only legitimate alternative in the fight for Palestinian liberation. We support the full range of Palestinian resistance.
  • The Palestinian resistance is part of a regional struggle of indigenous people against “US” imperialism and zionism. We support the regional resistance struggles in Lebanon, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
  • Zionism is a central pillar of US imperialism globally. “Israel” has supplied, trained and advised repressive regimes and right wing paramilitary groups around the world, including those in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, “Rhodesia”, South Africa, and Venezuela since the 1950’s. We recognize that our fight against imperialism must include a fight against zionism.
  • We recognize that zionism has played a central role in the “war on terror” and the development of the national security state.

- The zionist security industry regularly organizes trainings in “Israel” for “US” police and Homeland Security.
- Zionist mercenaries like Security Solutions International (formerly Instinctive     Shooting  International) provided “security” for gated communities in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina.
-Zionist companies like Elbit Systems that designed and built the wall that is intended to annex land in Palestine–was contracted to develop the “US border” wall with Mexico.
- Zionism has played a central role in the legalization of torture in the “war on terror.”

  • We believe that all forms of oppression: colonialism, racism, zionism, imperialism, sexism, capitalism, and homophobia are connected. We strive to make our work reflect this basic principle.
  • We believe that any fight against global oppression must necessarily begin where we live.
